Matt Keogh
Matt has been involved in sport for as long as he can remember. Growing up as one of five siblings there was plenty of competition and a focus on team sports, with football being the main passion. Matt played football to a decent level representing county team’s right up until he went to university. At University, Matt started coaching a range of sports including tennis, football and athletics, which is where the passion for coaching began to shine through. While studying a sport science degree, Matt also became incredibly passionate about triathlons. Matt completed his first triathlon in 2013 and instantly got the bug for racing and training. Matt completed his first sprint triathlon in 1 hour 40 minutes and with his competitive nature beat this time year on year, recently completing it in less than 1 hour.
I am incredibly passionate about health and fitness and regularly train across London, Berkshire, Surrey and Hampshire; making the most of the excellent lake swimming, cycling and running routes these areas have to offer. I am a Health and Wellbeing Physiologist, which involves delivering health assessments to a range of clients with a focus of improving fitness, nutrition and sleep. I have seen first-hand that in order to train well, race well and improve, you need to have an all-round healthy lifestyle. Therefore, I focus heavily on showcasing the benefits and educating people on nutrition, recovery and sleep. I have experience in working with athletes who have very little time to train and have successfully coached these people to high levels of success.
I regularly conduct sport science testing at work, such as lactate and VO2 max testing. This coupled with my sport science degree gives me an excellent understanding of the physical demands of endurance sport and how this can be improved. With this and my practical endurance sports coaching and racing, I am well equipped to work with athletes on all areas of training and development.
